As a management professor, I'm often asked to speak on management and leadership topics. My approach is three-fold: 

1) Ensure the audience has practical takeaways that they can implement in their careers;
2) Anchor the practical takeaways in scientific literature;
and
3) Weave in real workplace anecdotes and case studies to make it more memorable.
